On Friday August 8, 2008 Southern Pearl left Jet Tern in Zhuhai to begin her voyage to Florida. The 8th was also the day of the opening ceramonies for the 2008 summer olympics in Beijing. 08-08-08 was chosen because the Chineese believe 8 is a very lucky number. She was transported by truck from the shipyard and placed on a barge which carried her to Hong Kong for loading on Pacific Voyager.
Pacific Voyager is scheduled to transit the Panama Canal on September 3rd and arrive in Ft. Lauderdale on the 7th.
